This hot chocolate makes a wonderful wintertime dessert or snack. It has all the taste and health benefits of chocolate, without the sugar or dairy. With the richness of coconut oil and the natural sweetness of the almond milk, most people do not need to add extra sweetener.
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or other types of milk. Unsweetened is best if you are avoiding sugar)
- 1/2 TBS cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp coconut oil
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- a few drops of vanilla extract
- Optional: Stevia powder to taste (start with a dash) OR 1 tsp of honey
You can also add some spice to the hot cocoa with a dash each of cayenne pepper and cinnamon.
Directions: Heat milk until it is steaming but there are no large bubbles. Add other ingredients and whisk together
